A Change of Pace
After two weeks of wilderness and animals the last two days have been a good change of pace.
Missoula is one of my favorite towns. It has a cool eclectic vibe a bit out of the ordinary for Montana. After lunch at a great little Mexican restaraunt near the Wilma Theater, it was a few hours exploring downtown.
On the way to Choteau we took an hour to explore the Garnet Ghost Town which was really cool. Garnet was a turn of the century gold mining town about 11 miles up into the mountains. Many of the buildings burned in a fire in the early 1900's. For a brief period in the 30's the town tried to come back but by 1947 with the death of Frank Davey and the closure of his store the town could no longer survive.
