Hi everyone-

Hope you are all having a great Friday! I am really excited for the weekend to arrive because it's the first in a long time that we do not have any plans. How nice it'll be to catch up on things around the house and just hang out with the family.

Today's images are the final shots from the bridal shoot I did in Atlantic City this past weekend. I wanted to try out some new skills I learned from John Michael Cooper last month in Las Vegas.

This is a single flash multiple exposure technique that John has been using quite successfully. In the end it creates a very cool somewhat surreal look. This shot is actually a compilation of 16 different images that I shot while exposing different parts of the scene with the flash. The best parts were then blended together in Photoshop. After that a little more post and ta-da a cool new image.



The other cool part about creating shots this way is it can be done at any time of the day and under any lighting conditions. The next image was shot as we were setting up for the main photograph. I wanted to get an idea of the composition and get the set up correct before we started shooting. and of course Beth was standing in 30 degree temperatures and wind so she wanted me to get it right the first time too.

As I was downloading images I found the next shot and thought I would post it so you could have a reference for the time of day and lighting conditions when we were shooting.

These are a lot of fun and I hope to be shooting more over the next few weeks.

Hi everyone-

Today's images were shot in Atlantic City while on a little weekend trip there. These and the previous days shots were all created using only window light and reflectors.



It was a heavy overcast day so the window light was even pretty low. So we used everything we could find as reflectors including the white bag the dress is stored in.



Even though we had a lot of reflectors and we could really brighten up the shot I wanted to show that in the exact same lighting condition, only minutes apart with the same equipment you could make two very different images. One more dark and moody and the other bright and more uplifting.

Both images were shot in the same location without Beth ever really moving much. Just a few changes in settings and a bit of post in photoshop and it's you have whole different look and feel to the images.

Hi everyone-

Today I am posting two images that we shot this past week. The first was shot on an outside balcony with a red velvet blanket as a back drop.

This was a cool image to take because it took 5 people to pull off. Of course Beth and I and then Tonya was supporting me as I was standing on a chair with extra cushions added, and Crystal and Michelle were holding up the backdrop and supporting best who was leaning back at an odd angle for her.

It was funny because she was worried about falling backwards (about a foot to the ground) and I was standing basically at the rail level of the balcony with a 20 foot drop! But with the 50mm lens I needed the height to get the shot composed correctly.



The second image was shot right as we began shooting. We were playing around with how much light to let into the room and I was taking a few shots here and there to see what worked. I kinda like the dark feel of this image. But that's where I tend to go a lot if left up to me. I love shadows and moody images.

Hi everyone-

Well it snowed here yesterday, a lot compared to the rest of the winter we've had. We got at least six inches. It's crazy that this is our biggest snow storm of the year. We'll there is still time for a real one to come through. Keep your fingers crossed!!!!

It was funny on the Letterman show they did a clip with all of the newscasters from a bunch of channels saying some form of "March roarded in like a lion." I thought it was funny, it was like "Hey get the March script "lion" out, it's snowing!!" Everyone was saying the same things. Anyway...

In today's image we spread out the dress and had Beth lay back over it. It was shot by the window again but this time I was shooting from across the room with the 70-200 2.8 lens.

Because the day was heavy overcast we had to use some reflectors to bounce the light around a bit. We also tried with a flash but the results were not as soft. So we ended up with several reflectors as the best option .



I liked the image a lot as it was but of course I couldn't leave it alone so I decided to make an attempt at something a little different. Not necessarily aging the image but adding some elements to give it an advertising, couture kinda feel. As always I'd love to hear your feedback.

Hi everyone-

I hope you all had a great weekend.

I recently asked my sister to help me out with some bridal portraits to help build the portfolio in that area. Well we finally got around to getting some of those images shot. There are a few more ideas that I would like to shoot but we ran out of time and the weather was not really cooperating.



This week I'll be posting the images from our shoot. She was a good sport and braved a lot of cold and wind to get some of these shots done. Thanks Beth!!! Also thanks to Tonya, Crystal and Michelle for being my assistants!
