#448- Moooooooooooo....

2009-04-01

Hi everyone-

So it's not often that I blatantly endorse products on my blog but occasionally you come across something so cool and you meet people who are really nice and just make the product even better.

I had that occasion while at Photoshop World. I came across a booth by a company from England called Moo.com. At the booth I met Pete and Alicia who were such great people. They took more time than was necessary to explain their product and answer all of my crazy questions.

So what is this product that I have completely fell for? Well its at its very basic level, business cards. But this is not your typical printer. They have come up with a few twists and a few cool products that make you take a second and then third and fourth look.

There are a few really cool things they have going on, A. They are inexpensive for what you get and B. you don't have to order a ton of the cards, C. They are created on recycled or sustainably sourced materials and D. Cool packaging and I am a sucker for that.

But here is, in my mind, the the coolest part EACH CARD CAN HAVE A DIFFERENT IMAGE ON IT!!!!!!!!! Think about all of the interesting and targeted marketing concepts you could create with sets of cards.

I could go on and on, but I can't give away all my ideas, some you'll just have to figure out on your own. So let's take a look...

Here's a few sets of cards and the boxes they come in...

Here's a set of mini cards, they seem to be as long as a normal card but half the height...

Here Pete explains the cool products that Moo.com offers...

I saved one of the best things for last... This is a sticker book of 90 stickers of YOUR PHOTOS and you can put 90 different images in if you want. I can think of a million ways to use this product!! But again, you have to figure out your own ways...

Oh one thing i should mention, the quality of the products is really good as well. I took a bunch of samples of all their products and they are of a very high quality.

So if you have a moment, or even if you don't you should check out moo.com I'll be ordering my first sets of cards this week.

Have a great day!!

#447 PSW and Boston...

Hi everyone-

While I was at Photoshop World I was able to take in a talk that the great Joe McNally was giving at the Nikon Theater. He talked about a lot of different things but all very interesting and very entertaining. Joe is a very funny guy and one of the best photographers out there. He is also a master at using speedlights and off camera flash to create amazing light.

At the end of his talk he asked a man in the audience who everyone thought looked like Kurt Vonnegut to come up and pose for him. He then proceeded to create a dramatic portrait right there. It kinda of brought a lot of the points he was making earlier together.

I just got Joe's new book, Hot Shoe Diaries and really recommend it to anyone wanting to learn about lighting with speedlights and off camera flash. I have been reading it and so far I love it!

While I was in town I did get to do a little walking around. I had to check out the mall that was attached to my hotel and the convention center. I couldn't come back with nothing for my girls!! So while I walked around I shot some images of the area.

This shot was taken from a skywalk between the two malls.

Of course in the time I was there I went up and down a lot of escalators and elevators. This shot was taken 'from the hip' literally.

Have a great day!

#446- Photoshop World- Boston

2009-03-30

Hey everyone-

This past week I had the honor of having some of my images on display in the Mpix booth at the Photoshop World Conference in Boston. There was a large one on the wall and several books of my work on display in other areas of the booth.

I was really honored to have my work chosen and to be displayed with some really great photographers. I'd like to thank John Rank from Mpix for contacting me and selecting my work to display.

Photoshop World was great, I just wish I had more time to take in some of the great classes.

In the first image you can see the main backdrop of the booth and my image "Burn Day" in the lower right corner.

Here's me holding one of the very cool books that Mpix created of the images I sent them.

Even thought he trip to Boston was really short and went by quickly I had a great time and really enjoyed meeting the Mpix team. I will post a few other highlights from the trip as the week goes on.

Have a great day!!
