Things are looking up...
Hi everyone--
Well today was a bit of a better day as far as getting a variety of good images. It wasn't easy though. I guess this year I am going to have to really work to get images that I think are interesting and of good quality.
Today's weather was crappy again. It rained off and on all day. Tonight it is supposed to drop down and snow at some point but the last I checked it was still hovering around 40 degrees.
Who knows what tomorrow will bring, maybe snow, maybe more rain. Hopefully the cooler temps will get the animals moving around because it really has been bad over all compared to other years.
I talked to a lot of people today and the concensus is that the warm dry year has really screwed things up. The Yellowstone River is at its lowest level since records were kept. You can see it by driving by it is really low. The White Pine seeds have pretty much failed completely this year. Again due to hot dry conditions. This is an important food for the bears.
Because a lot of the berry crop was crappy this year to it has put the bears on the move looking for food sources. Many have ventured outside of the park and have been looking at trash and gut piles from the surrounding area Elk hunts. But this has increased the man-bear encounters and it is reported there were several attacks. Of course you know who loses in the long run there.
So it's kinda sad to the see the changes that the warm dry year has caused. A lot of the park is struggling more than normal. I am not concluding that it is due to global warming because I have no data to back that up but these areas continue to see record breaking heat and drought. This is the first year that I have really been able to see the effects.

Great shots. Casual observations of Ohio suggest global warming may be real.
Quick Call Al Gore!
Seriously though, it is a shame that you have to work so hard during your time out there!
I am jealous.
