Ol' 4859...
One of the highlights of visiting the station is getting to see the Pennsylvania Railroads GG1 that is on display there.
This is one of the most celebrated electric locomotives ever built. This unit, 4859 was the first to pull an electric train into Harrisburg on January 15, 1938 and was eventually dubbed as the official electric locomotive of Pennsylvania.
It's sleek look and effective work record make a favorite of train buffs to this day. The last GG1 worked until the 1980's making it one of the longest if not the longest working engine design in American History.

After looking at your shots the last week of the train station now I don't know what to post next week, they make mine look bad. Great work as ussual Brian.
Your black and white images as so clear they almost look fake. thanks for sharing
Nice Shots Brian...
Did I tell you that B&W is dead? Damn... nobody told you. So you had to go and do this... this masterpiece in a dead media. Why.. that's just insensitive. Please stop resuscitating this forlorn format, okay. You might even get its heart pitty-patting again as if it can get up and dance. We have been given the gift of super sharp, high contrast lenses and millions of colors... You have chosen to surgically remove those colors.
AAARGH! And to add insult, the operation is a big time success. Nice image Brian... Grumble... Now stop fooling around with the dead and return to the Wonderful World Of Color... K? :-)
