The Legend Himself

2007-09-10

I spent a good hour or two sitting in the kitchen area of Mr. Hall's trailer. We talked about everything you could imagine but we mostly talked about his history with the circus and side shows.

As we talked he took his freshly dry cleaned costumes and slowly, and with great care inpected them and hing them in his closet. Then he selected one particularly flashy outfit put it on and said let's go take some photographs.

As soon as Mr. Hall stepped in front of the camera he lit up like a kid well...at the circus. He started with a simple pose and went on from there never stopping rather just fluidly moving from one to another. I just kept firing shot after shot.

It really was a great time. I was completely enthrawled with my surroundings and Mr. Hall and his cast accpeted me as one of thier own (I know not really a stretch was it) and opend themselves up for some great portraits.

I loved every second of it and in light of the shows retirement I feel so greatful to have been allowed to spend 5 hours with an American tradtion...

Great capture. Wonderful expression and great processing.

Thanks Nick,

I forgot to post the camera information on these two shots.

But on thing I wanted to mention is that a lot of this series was shot with a lensbaby 2.0.
