Love Is In The Air
Hey everybody...
Well I finally arrived in Yellowstone. Actually I got here pretty late last night. I was too tired to post anything so I went right to sleep in my delux accomadations. (2007 Toyota Tacoma Bed) It was surprisingly comfortable.
Well today I got up and got some things done in town and then headed into the park. So I missed the early morning shots today but I'll be out the rest of the week.
When I got into the park I thought maybe they had put the animals away for the winter. (joke) There was NOTHING to be seen anywhere. I spent most of the day wondering aimlessly around the park searching for something to shoot.
I spoke to a few people who had similar stories but they said there is some stuff going on here and there. So I headed out again and did more of the same.
But on the way out I hit the jackpot. Unfortunatly the jackpot was all but in the dark. There were 6 yes 6 bull elk in one area, some of them HUGE. They were all making a move on a harem located in the Madison River Valley.
So I stayed and really pushed the limits of the camera and much to my surprise got a few shots that I think are usable.
Today's shot is of the dominate bull running off one of the potential suiters. The cool thing about it was that this was by far the smallest of the six bulls. But he was the only one to make a serious move and actually got inside the harem.
Here you see him being run off by the bull. Thank God for the river reflection otherwise it was way to dark.
Hopefully there will be some action in the early am. We'll see...
