A Land That Once Was...

2007-12-17

Hi everyone. Finally back up and running here. We lost power for about 15hrs yesterday after a tree from the neighbor's fell due to ice and wind and took out the high tension line feeding our neighborhood. We'll that was at 0430. So no power means no heat. Waking up was not too much fun that's for sure!!

Thanks to our friends Chuck and Abi for taking in a family of refugees for a few hours and keeping us warm and fed!

We're back home now all cozy and warm listening to the 50+ mph winds howling through whats left of the trees...Hopefully they'll hang on until this passes...

So I didn't get to post what I had hoped to but I would be remiss to not mention that Saturday the 15th was the 117th anniversary of Sitting Bull's Murder. This was followed shortly by a slew of injustices towards his people that would change their lives forever. I'll visit those topics as they come up over the next few weeks.

Today's image is a montage that I created while thinking of what it must have been like to look out over a valley and see a village of lodges grouped together.

The base image was shot in Yellowstone National Park and the lodges were taken from an old photo of Sitting Bull's camp in the years shortly before his death.

I like this one a lot!

Nicely executed. You've created a time tunnel. And it has a strongly cinematic impact. Effective work.

Very well done! I love the light and shadows, along with the ghostly villages. Like looking through a secret window to the past.
