A Trip To The Beach...

2008-03-29

Today we took a trip to Ft. Myers Beach. It was Cree's first ever trip to a beach and she had a great time. The weather was beautiful and the beach was nice. She loved the water and really enjoyed throwing sand in the air until of course it went got in her eyes.

I'll have some pics of our time at the beach later. Today we took a walk after lunch. One of our stops was the Ft. Myers Beach Pier. There we saw some pelicans and some other birds.

Today's shot started out as a not so great shot, who knows maybe it still is, it was underexposed and not really thought out that great.

Anyway after a little photoshop tweaking here's what I came up with. Hope you like. Feel free to let me know.

I do like the look of this. I do love pier images. I really like the set Craig posted over the last several weeks.

I like this and love the beach - I can feel the mood of the ocean breeze here as well. Very nice post processing.

You are HOT! This and the abstract from the airport are massively powerful Brian. Is it the "fresh eyes" effect or is there something else that's got you making such emotionally charged images just now?

This image is in NO WAY derivative of the Craig Tanner posts.... it is your energy that's filling the portal... and tugging us right on through.

Nice work Brian.

Hi guys--

Thanks so much for your great feeback on this and the other images.

Nick, Thanks I figured that you might like this as I have seen from your blog that you like the coastline. I am not a huge beach person but like shooting there more and more.

Deb, The breeze made the weekend. It was mid 80's, low humidity and a perfect breeze. Thought you would like the texture!

Ted,

Thanks so much. I am glad you like this image and the one from the airport. That was taken during landing and I was unsure what to expect. I liked it a lot and was really interested to see if others would as well.

I am not sure what is driving these images. I would have to say it's a little of both, the fresh eyes and 'something else'.

As for the eyes, it's been nearly 10 years since my last visit to Ft. Myers but I remembered it well. So I think a fair amount of previsualization went into a lot of the shots. I knew I had a short stay so I tried to think out what I wanted to shoot.

As for the something else, I think it is Spring, some really good things happening to me in the photoworld right now, I am back to work and things are back to the way I want them to be. I really think that is having an effect on me and my guess is that it is trickling down to the photography.

As for the pier image, it is a little bit a derivative of Craig's shots of the pier in that I had been looking at a set of wonderful shots all week so the inspiration was definately there. But I really didn't want to shoot the pier and have a series of images that ended up looking just like those.

So hopefully you will see that over the next few days.

Thanks again everyone!
