Hi everyone-

Today's image was shot along the Madison River in Yellowstone National Park. The elk rut was winding down but this guy was still in the mood, at least a little bit.

As we watched him you could tell he was still concerned about keeping the few cows that remained with him in a loosely contained area.

But you could also see that he was tired and probably looking forward to the next week or so when the hormones would no longer control his every move.

I love to watch the elk at anytime but especially during the rut. They are such regal and proud animals. They epitomize the American West to me.
